2. What is a good age to start martial arts training?
We believe that martial arts training has benefits for every age, so starting at the age of 3 is great. Children should focus on developing listening skills and appropriate classroom behavior in a fun and playful way.
Martial arts training offers a great learning atmosphere. Beyond practicing self-defense techniques, skills against bullying, and maintaining or improving physical fitness, our students develop discipline, respect, self-esteem, goal-setting skills, and confidence.
For teens and adults martial arts training is a great way to improve fitness and flexibility, learn self-defense skills, grow confidence, develop discipline, and release stress. There’s no such thing as the perfect age to get started. Our Sovereign family is always open to new members of all ages. We’re sure to find the right program for you!
3. Can boys and girls be in the same class? Yes, absolutely! All of our classes are co-educational. We have a good mix of both girls and boys in our martial arts programs and teach our students from the beginning to respect each other, no matter which gender they are.
4. Can I take martial arts classes if I’m not in good shape, not very athletic, or if I don’t have any experience? Absolutely! Don’t be afraid, everyone has to start somewhere! Martial arts is a great way to improve your health and overall physical fitness, no matter what the starting point is. Our programs allow students to go step by step, level by level, at their own pace. Our programs are ideal for people of all ages and skill levels as well as those who want to improve their physical shape.
5. Do I need to buy a uniform? No, you don’t need to buy a uniform by yourself. At Wolfs Den Self-Defense Academy, a uniform is included in our kids and adults programs. Besides the uniform, in some programs, additional equipment is required and must be purchased in the school once you enroll in our programs.
6. Will Karate make my children more violent? Children are taught that martial arts are not to be used in aggression, but rather to defend oneself in problematic situations. Aggressive behavior is channeled into assertiveness to increase your child’s self-esteem, increase self-disciple and build character. Our program also helps the shy child to develop self-confidence and become more assertive.
